Senior Pastor & Chief Overseer
Bishop Dr. Levi S. Murray is the Senior Pastor of Jobe's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he has been serving the church and the community for over 20 years. He grew up in Swan Quarter, North Carolina.
He was educated in the Hyde County Public School System and graduated from Mattamuskeet High School in 1986. After graduating high school, he attended Elizabeth City State University.
Bishop Murray resides in Greenville, N.C. He is the husband of Shelia H. Murray and father of one daughter, Kiera Murray of Greenville, NC.
He worked for the National Spinning Co. and Caron International for 24 years as a Supervisor and Quality Control Manager. He is currently employed at ThermoFisher Scientific as a Formulation Supervisor.
He is a graduate and a proud Alumni of Pitt Community College. He is tireless, dedicated, and highly respected by his peers.
His leadership roles include served as the Chairperson of the Hyde County Ministerial Council for Education, serves on the Hyde/Washington/Tyrrell Recovery Court Advisory board. He established a ministry called the CIA (Christians In Action), which is geared towards assisting residents in the community. Bishop Murray also established the Hyde County Ministers & Leaders Conference which is held each year in the month of May, he established the United for Christ Convocation. His greatest mentor was his father, the late Thomas Franklin Murray.
Bishop Murray graduated with a Doctorate of Biblical Studies from New York Christian Bible College, demonstrating his commitment to theological education and biblical scholarship. This advanced degree reflects his dedication to deepening his understanding of Scripture and enhancing his ability to serve the church and community through sound biblical teaching and leadership.
